What Green Building means to you:
1. Green Building is the right thing to do - we should do what we can reasonably do to lessen our impact on our environment.
2. Green Building is not an all or nothing approach to building; there are a lot of options to consider and many do not have significant cost impacts. Some of the systems/components that do have initial cost impacts offer operating savings that will reduce your annual cost to own a new home.
3. It is important to consider Green Building in the initial planning stages as many of the components function as a system and incorporating them piecemeal can have negative impacts, particularly with regard to moisture and air quality. It is also true that Green Building can have different points of emphasis for different customers: for most of us in Michigan energy efficiency is key but if you have severe allrgy problems then air quality may be most important.
4. We have selected Green Features that we offer as standard in all homes that we build: we will discuss those features and options and their costs with you as we go through the planning process. We offer and recommend independent third party testing and Green Certification of your home.
Other builders may consider their role complete after they do a quick walkthrough with you and hand over the keys. We will continue to provide personal service
after your home is
complete. We do a new home orientation with you and give you warranty request forms to be filled out at 2, 6, and 11 months. At 11 months we will walk thru your home with you and ensure that any remaining concerns you may have are addressed.
It’s the way we make sure that you’re completely
satisfied with every aspect of your new home—not
just at the walkthrough, but also months later, once
you’ve had a chance to settle in and really get
acquainted with your new home.
